Regional Hearth Summit in Mexico Explores Intergenerational Wisdom for a Thriving Future

At the recent Wellbeing in Higher Education event in Mexico, Papalii Dr. Tusi Avegalio, a distinguished innovation expert and former director of the Pacific Business Center Program at the University of Hawai’i – Manoa, shared profound insights on harnessing ancestral wisdom to tackle modern challenges. He emphasized the importance of Pacific community values in fostering innovation and entrepreneurship.

Dr. Tusi also provided deep reflections on the role of intergenerational leadership during times of transformation and offered practical strategies to enhance community wellbeing through education and research initiatives. As an Elder, he is actively involved in guiding the student-led Ecological Belonging fellowship.

His insights connect deeply to the concept of ecological belonging, which emphasizes the interdependence between individuals, communities, and the natural world. By integrating ancestral wisdom and community values into contemporary practices, Dr. Tusi illustrates how we can cultivate a sense of belonging that honors our roots while addressing present and future challenges. This approach not only fosters resilience but also strengthens our connections to each other and the environment.
